Murdered 2-Year-Old Remembered At Funeral

Just 45 people sat inside English Chapel Free Will Baptist Church to remember a 2-year-old who was murdered earlier this month.

Da'jon Roundtree was dressed in a red and black hoodie, baseball hat and a pacifier in his mouth. Pastor V.B. Phillips says the hoodie was used to concealed some of the child's injuries.

The toddler's gold and white casket was surrounded with white carnations, red roses, and yellow blooms.

Pastor Phillips says the family continues to cope with the lose of Da'jon's father who died two years ago and now the death of his son.

Authorities say the child died July 3rd in a trailer that his mother and her boyfriend shared in Grimesland. His body wasn't discovered until three days later when Virginia authorities notified Pitt County deputies about a possible death.

The child's mother, Denise Garcia and her boyfriend, Steven Foreman, are both charged with murder and felony child abuse.

Da'jon will be laid to rest later today in Bethel.

I totally disagree. I was locked up in PCDC with Denise and unlike most of the parents that are incarcerated she is the only one that has told the truth and story hasn't changed. You would have to know denise personally to understand the bond that her and her kids share. I see her cry everyday in that cell because she cant defend herself her man is guilty she isnt she deserves a second chance. Denise was a great parent that worked 40 plus hours a weeek to take care of her children. In PCDC you see how these people and I can vouch for denise she is a loving sweet lady who just got handed crap because of the man she chose to be with. LOVE YOU DENISE KEEP YOUR HEDA UP NO MATTER WHAT THE PUBLIC HAS TO SAY. ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE YOU!!!!

I HOPE THEY HAVE TO SERVE THE REST OF THEIR LIFE IN PRISON. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE CRIMAL JUSTICE SYSTEM ANY MORE. I KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS IN PRISON FOR 7 PILLS & THEY GOT 10-14YRS. THEN I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE GO TO PRISON FOR 5YRS OR NOT AS LONG FOR MURDERING A CHILD, RAPING A CHILD, OR SOMETHING MUCH MORE SERIOUS. WHY AREN'T THEY GETTIN 14YRS IN PRISON OR LIFE FOR DOING THINGS LIKE THAT TO SMALL INNOCENT PRECIOUS CHILDREN? IF YOU DON'T WANT THE CHILD GIVE THEM UP FOR ADOPTION OR TAKE THEM TO DSS. WHY DO YOU WANT TO KILL THEM. TUBA SURE THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING THAT WRONG FOR YOU TO HAVE TO KILL THEM. CALL YOUR PARENTS OR A FRIEND OR SOMEONE TO COME GET THEM FOR AWHILE UNTIL YOU COOL DOWN. THIS BREAKS MY HEART. I LOVE CHILDREN. IF YOU DON'T WANT THEM GIVE THEM TO ME. I CAN'T GIVE THEM EVERYTHING THEY WANT IN THE WORLD BUT I CAN GIVE THEM ONE THING & THAT IS LOVE, A HOME, FRIENDS, & FAMILY WHO WILL LOVE THEM AS THEIR OWN.

if there is no proof that the mama never saw what happened, then yes i maybe inclined to give her room for judgement, but the bottom line is, she left her dead daughter to rot, while she was living it up with her boyfriend. no matter what had happened to my child, there is no man that would be worth this!

As America continues its moral decline this will only happen more and more, this is what happens when you deny God's place in our country and our daily lives. The proof is in the headlines everyday

How could she walk away from that baby? This just goes to show you how this generation has turned out. This generation popping out kids comes from parents who were most likely divorced, worked full time, no church, no morals and layed no boundries or rules for their children. Most were probably NOT role models themselves. GO BACK TO OLD SCHOOL. They cranked out better human beings and parents!!!!!

what is there for the NAACP to check out? the losers told the cops where to find the body, confessed to killing the child, and it wasn't race motivate...it was complete insanity and evil at play, not bigotry. if you want to contribute somehow to this tragedy, pray that the woman's daughter (who was with them) is placed in a stable, supportive, and loving environment where she learn to cope with what happened to her brother and the depravity of her mother. pray for this child, she needs all the love she can get right now.
