I love this gym, Ihave been going to it a little over a year now and it has really helped my confidence, stength, muscle endurance, and mental preparation for confrentations to come. Thank you Professor Rodrigo!

Why is this gym a joke? I've seen Rodrigo Galvanosi's UFC Expo video, and he seems to be a highly skilled martial artist. He says "his most valued instructor was Professor Moses Powell which revolutionized his fighting style." I'm currently training at Fort Bragg, NC, and the late Dr. Powell was one of the founders of our system. So, it would be a great honor and a privilege to train with Rodrigo. My goals are to become a close combat specialist, and to meet great people in our industry

To Corey: You are correct..partially. But can you tell me about even one documented instance where one of those "No Firearms Allowed,Concealed Or Otherwise" signs posted at any business prevented it from being robbed..by a guy with a gun? Do you honestly think a criminal bent on committing robbery or murder will be stopped by one of those stupid signs? The only effect that sign has on a robber / murderer is that it lets him know his intended victims are DEFENSELESS. Criminals have a tendency to ignore our laws, which is why we call them "criminals". So,if the bad guys are going to be armed [and they will],so too should the good guys.

To the people who believe that carrying a gun is a good option to defend themselves need to really think twice about this decision. First off, you must be twenty-one years old anywhere in the United States to obtain a carrying permit for a firearm. Even with a permit, there are few places you can carry a gun. For example you cannot carry a gun into any restaurant or place of business that sells alcohol. Courthouses, schools and any government building also do not allow the possession of a firearm.

Self defense lessons are good, and may buy some time during a real attack encounter, but ultimately will not protect you from a firing weapon, a knife, or multiple attackers, unless you are Jackie Chan/Bruce Lee. The best protection is to be aware of your surroundings in public, before and after you park, including being picky about where you park, what time, and the places you frequent. Some areas of town are just not as safe as others. Don't just park and hop out of the car; look behind and around your vehicle before you get out. Take notice of the make and model of the vehicle in front of/behind yours. Check out the persons in the immediate area. There are so many things to look for, it would fill a page. Don't be paranoid, but bottomline, use common sense. It's not 'fairytale land' out there.

They point out some very effective strategies that will take a person twice my size down in a very quick amount of time. Also I have a gun, and pointed that out, but as they pointed out there are the valuable seconds where trying to find the gun or protecting yourself is the choice and it's better to know how to protect yourself first, and then be able to look for the gun to defend yourself with it. I rather know how to defend myself if I ever need to than be sorry later that I did not know anything! Better to have the tools in my handbag than no tools at all.
