Two Women Trapped In Flipped Car

Two women had to be rescued out of their car after it flipped several times and landed in someone's yard Friday afternoon.

Troopers say the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Old Tar Road, just south of Winterville.

Wanda and Erica Gibbs were both trapped in the vehicle and they were taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

The Highway Patrol says their car was headed north when it went off the right shoulder and over corrected. The car then cross the highway, hit a ditch, went through a tree, flipped several times and landed in a yard underneath a tree.

There's no immediate word on the extent of injuries. Old Tar Road was closed for about 45 minutes because of the accident.

@G: Who? Wanda and Erica Gibbs. What? A car accident. When? about 2:30 pm. Where? Old Tar Road, just south of Winterville. How? Gravity and Inertia (kind of understood). Why? (as in, why did gravity and inertia go awry??)-- the car "went off the right shoulder and [the driver] over corrected. The car then cross[ed] the highway, hit a ditch, went through a tree, flipped several times." All taken from the original, albeit brief, story. But then, if you could read, you might would have known this...

All elements that you would like to review are in the story. They don't have the conditions of those in the wreck so really, that is all that info that is not answered here.
