On page fourteen of the Southern Living magazine you'll find a write-up about a preppy clothing line called Southern Proper.
That label was co-founded by a Kinston native who has turned the business into a success. While the company is based in Atlanta she currently lives in Greenville.
Reagan Howell came up with the idea with her best friend back in 2006 and decided their plan was worth the risk. Howell says, "When I was in corporate America and I told my boss I was going to leave, the vice president of a Fortune 500 company looked at me and said, you're going to fail, and I looked at her and I said, you know what, I am going to succeed, and 225 accounts later, and a very profitable website that we do sell on, we've succeeded."
The clothing is sold in stores across the country including local stores like Coffman's in Greenville. Some of the companies products are also manufactured in Eastern Carolina, like the bow ties.
Howell says if you have a dream you should go after it. That's what she did and now, she wakes up and gets to do something she loves everyday at work.
