ECU Offers Masters In Tourism Degree

Eastern North Carolina beaches have long been leaders in the tourism industry, and now East Carolina University is trying to follow suit.

The school became the first College or University in the entire country to offer a masters degree in sustainable tourism.

The degree program incorporates expertise from five different academic programs ranging from business to ecology.

The program will prepare students to try and balance the ecological, economic and social impacts of tourism on vacation destinations around the world.

University officials say sustainability has become a growing focus in the business world and the tourism industry is no different.

Whoa!!! What will this "University" think of next. Unbelievable. Guess this is one way to beef up the number of post graduate degrees that EASY U offers.

That's good to know. To T, if a man or woman makes those big dollars, it would not matter if they got a Master's degree in fighting, a Master's in biking, or even a Master's in sleeping. You can't even spell the word Master's can you?

Although I would have no interest in this degree, the amount of money and percentage of various local and national economies tied to tourism is huge. Hence, the business reference in the article. Many do not question MBA degrees; this one just has more specificity I assume. Perhaps if Dave had earned this Masters degree (or some other one) as opposed to the one that he did "earn" he might actually be employed in his field now. He also might be living somewhere that he desires, as he so very often stated during his many previous postings here. LOL!
