Hungry children across the east received a helping hand Wednesday.
The Grainger Company in Greenville made a 20 thousand dollar donation to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina Wednesday to help fund the agency's summer stock event aimed at feeding children during the summer time when kids no longer have access to school meals.
The Food Bank says that over forty eight thousand kids in the Greenville warehouse service area receive free or reduced cost school meals, but are left with nowhere to turn to during the summer months.
To fight the problem, the Food Bank and the Grainger Company are hosting the summer stock event at the Greenville Town Common this Sunday from 4-6:30.
The Food Bank operations manager says these contributions are critical to meeting their feeding needs.
The agency plans to hold daily breakfast and lunch feedings throughout the summer.
