Pitt County Building Fire

An abandoned building that fire crews say was being used for storage went up in flames Wednesday morning causing some traffic problems.

Dispatchers say the blaze broke out just before 5AM in Falkland in Pitt County.

A detour was set up on Highway 43 as firefighters tried to put out the blaze.

Authorities say the building which is located across the street from the post office used to be a store, but is now being used for personal storage.

It took crews several hours to put out the fire.

An investigation into the cause is underway.
