Local Man Faces 62 Charges Related To Dog Fighting

Authorities say they found one dead dog on the property almost three weeks ago. Deputies launched an investigation that uncovered a more serious problem at the home.

40 year-old-Derrick Rascoe had a scheduled court appearance Tuesday for a slew of charges related to dog fighting and a possible dog fighting operation at a home on Sutton Acres Lane.

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office told the Daily Reflector, Rascoe surrendered 15 Pit Bulls to animal control, in which 12 of the dogs had to be euthanized.

4REAL...........regardless of whether you agree with my comments or not, I do not make fun of other peoples' names. As you can see, nobody is laughing, and you just look like a fool. You have every right to disagree with things that I may say, lord knows that many people do. I however stick to what my beliefs are and I am consistent in those beliefs. Disagree with me is fine, I can respect that. I hope you realize how stupid you look by making comments like the one you posted about me below. Finally, I will refer back to Anony 5/26/10 at 1:54 PM with his or her "battle of intellect" comment. Absolutely brilliant comment. 4REAL......many of us now consider you the poster child for this battle.

Tantrum, go hug a tree! Everyone knows goodness well what they are doing with Pit Bulls. And you are right, gun collectors are usually a law abiding group and they collect guns because they love the hobby. Collecting pit bulls and having the means to fight them is short of being on the same page. Thugs will be thugs, this is what they enjoy!

Tantrum, if you knowingly supply a weapon for an illeagal purpose it makes you an accomplice. Just as knowingly training and providing dogs for fighting does. In some cases, yes you are responsible for KNOWINGLY bveing a supplier for an illeagal activity. They also look at how the dogs are kept, trained (treadmills, spring poles, etc.) to determine if there is an involvement in the "sport" I've got three pits, and had as many as 9 at once, yet I've never even been looked at crossly by neighbors or law enforcement.

Wouldn't you know it. More comments about animals than about humans. What about the man who held his estranged wife and son at gunpoint. Some of you people really need help. Just because you see a certain race on this site the comments start flowing. It is easy for some of you to talk down about a person when you don't like their race.

To Wilma:it says he had 15 dogs, not 62.Does a man collect guns because he likes to shoot people? You asked should we assume he had so many dogs because he loves the dogs? Are you serious?Ask the cat lady why she has so many cats?Ask the car collector why he has so many cars and the gun collector why he has so many guns.Because that's what they love!!!! To Anonymous@ 2:03:How can you be charged for supplying someone with dogs to fight? So charge the gun stores for selling guns to people. You are not responsible for what someone does with something they buy from you.Like someone said before;the $5000 reward has people making things up to get paid. How can you charge someone with dog fighting if you didn't catch them fighting the dogs?Maybe animal neglect would be more appropriate.
