Greenville Uptown Umbrella Market Opens

Local vendors took to the streets Wednesday afternoon to lure in customers with their home made and home grown goods.

Greenville's Uptown Umbrella Market kicked off Wednesday and will run every Wednesday from 5-8PM until September 15th.

Booths lined the parking lot at the corner of Evans and 5th Street while residents enjoyed their products.

A new addition this year is a local peanut company and a homemade ice cream vendor, which market go-ers seemed really excited about.

I love a good farmers market. I'm live in northeastern NC. To bad this is only on Weds. evenings. I love to go to Raleigh to the big farmers market when I can. Can anybody tell me of any in the area that are open during the day and on weekends.

To Anonymous... I was there as a vendor, and I was quite comfortable with the safety of the surroundings and the location. It was a successful and enjoyable event. We will be back next week! Come see for yourself, and meet a lot of nice courteous people in the process. My regards.

Dave: So, exactly what are you doing now post graduation? Or do you prefer to keep ducking the question? Anonymous at 10:16 pm: You sound scared to venture out into public on a Wednesday afternoon as the story references. I guess you don't go out much anywhere, whenever and wherever you're from. Downtown Greenville on a Wednesday afternoon does not get any more tame. May I suggest a pacifier? Or a babysitter to hold your timid little, frightened hand?

But how long will it be until someone robs someone there or shoots them? Seems to be the common thing to do in Greenville lately.

Healthy foods and Greenville don't mix. I bet if they opened another Bojangles, the locals would be beating down the door.

Awesome, keep the money local. That is at least some economic fallout prevention. Buy local, stay local, forever local.
