With ECU Students Gone, Businesses Work To Keep Customers Coming In

Stores and restaurants located near ECU say they're working to drum up business now that the students have left town.

Businesses say keeping customers coming in and out of their establishments is especially important now, during an economy trying to recover.

Supdogs says business slows down during the summer, but it plans to offer live music and special events to attract more customers.

Business also slows down at the Tipsy Teapot when ECU students leave town. The restaurant says it started offering a salad bar to increase business during the summer.

ECU's fall semester starts in August.

Not all ECU students are as a lot of people describe. I am a "non-traditional" student, and I am serious about my studies and my personal life. I don't party - I study and go to school. I have gained a new perspective on life - I consistently work to improve myself, physically, intellectually; I have learned compassion and tolerance. ECU has helped me become a better person and realize my potential.

Yes all those healthy students with their steady diet of alcohol and cigarettes and staying up too late and sleeping all day. Why don't things do well around campus? Because students don't support anything but bars and fast food.

The Tipsy Teapot has ridiculous prices! Everything on the menu is at least $8.00

I went to Tipsy Teapot to get their salad bar to take back to the office, but they won't let you get it to go. Some way to attract new customers, won't be back..

People in Greenville love to eat fried foods. Too bad most of the students are gone because they are the healthy ones in town. It seems that all people in Greenville do is eat out and drink beer.

They run the same story every summer. Yes, there are some businesses that the students help with their money, but not all. It's mostly the bars and clubs that are going to suffer, wah.

So Greenville is nothing more than an welfare slum now?

There are several health food stores in this town but you won't find them by sitting at home/work and insulting people on the internet.
