UNC System School Facing Crisis With State Budget Shortfall

The state budget crisis could cause local universities to go into crisis mode.

Chancellor Steve Ballard at East Carolina University wrote a piece in the Daily Reflector Newspaper Sunday, reporting three hundred million dollars in cuts could cripple academics and cause excellent faculty to leave.

He adds, this could lead to the university's inability to compete.

Elizabeth City State University is asking the state legislature to reconsider the cuts to the state's universities, as they would face firing faculty and enlarging classrooms sizes.
