A fire that closed down a busy Greenville street Friday afternoon is out and South Memorial Drive is back open.
Greenville firefighters were called to a building at South Memorial Drive & Ione Street around 3:00 p.m.
Battalion Chief Doug Branch tells WITN the fire is out, though they continue to work on a few hot spots. Branch says the building is owned by Fulcher Tire, but was not part of the building that burned last year.
South Memorial Drive, just south of Dickinson Avenue was shut down because of the blaze.
Branch says tires in back of the building caught fire and it spread to part of the roof. A crew was working on the roof and called 911when they saw the flames. The Trophy Case, which is in the same building, received smoke damage, while next door Blue Heron Insurance had smoke damage as well.
No one was injured in the fire and the road remained closed as of 5:30 p.m.
