Math Takes Center Stage In Pitt County

It was a day full of fractions, division, and multiplication for some students in Pitt County.

Hundreds of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders got to display their math skills Wednesday in the 8th Annual Math Masters Challenge.

There was an individual and group competition.

Top math students were chosen from all the elementary schools in the county.

They used special controllers to plug their answer into the computer.

The top winners received medals and trophies.

Teachers say the kids love the competition, and it's a great way to help get kids ready for their standardized tests coming up.

The program is sponsored by E-Instruction, Study Island, and Walmart. A second group of students will compete on Thursday.
