Police say a confrontation Sunday afternoon turned violent with both men sent to the hospital.
Greenville police say David Smith is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with the intent to kill after they say he shot Wadell Blow, Jr. Sunday afternoon.
Police say it happened around 5:15 p.m. at 1201 Myrtle Avenue, that's where Smith lives. They say the two were involved in a verbal dispute in the front yard, with Blow armed with a pipe. Police say Smith went inside and came out with a shotgun and shot Blow in the abdomen.
Both men were hospitalized.
Smith is now in the Pitt County jail under a $750,000 bond while Blow is in fair condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
