The "Music for Miracles" radiothon for CMN has raised $100,000 in the first day.
The radiothon on Greenville radio station 107.9 benefits University Health Systems Children's Hospital and runs through Sunday.
This is a bittersweet event this year, as the late radio personality and longtime supporter Jerry Wayne is being honored. Morning host Donna Kelly says Jerry had a passion for the radiothon and loved helping the kids. "He would get in the middle of the floor and play with them, he would have them in their laps, he put his headphones on them, he just had fun with the kids. He just had a big ole heart, he was a big ole man with a big ole heart and we just miss his energy so much, but we feel like, you know, he's up in Heaven, and he's looking down on us and he's so proud that people are coming through for the Children's Miracle Network."
Money raised will be presented during the CMN broadcast on WITN June 5-6.
