Another East Carolina University football player has been kicked off the team.
WITN News has learned that Austin Haynes was dismissed from the team by Coach Ruffin McNeill for unspecified reasons.
Court records say the junior linebacker from Jacksonville was recently arrested for a misdemeanor charge of communicating threats and several traffic violations.
Haynes was arrested March 13th by Greenville police on the communicating threats charge. The warrant says he threatened to "physically injure" a Grimesland woman on March 5th.
"Austin has been dismissed because of choices and conduct we will not accept or tolerate in our program at East Carolina," McNeill said. "I have had an opportunity to discuss this with Austin and he understands this action. While we are both disappointed with the outcome, my hope is that this will turn into a beneficial lesson for him in life."
Last month Brandon Jackson was kicked off the team after his third run-in with the law since 2008. Also, Giavanni Ruffin was suspended from the team indefinitely after his arrest. The two were arrested March 28th by Greenville police on charges of being intoxicated and disruptive and resisting, obstructing and delay police.
