Five Vehicles In Back To Back Crashes

A real mess Monday afternoon with Winterville police investigating two accidents right next to each other that involved five vehicles.

Police tell us the first crash happened around 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 11 and Davenport Farm Road. Three cars were involved in that crash which police say was caused when a car ran a red light. One of the vehicles in that crash was a wrecker.

The second crash happened when a driver didn't stop in time for the traffic backup caused by the first accident, police say.

Two people were taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

I think I will drive while talking on my phone. My point was there are a long list of distractions that take our minds off driving.

The phone may or may not have been the distraction in this instance. However ... they are just that: a distraction. So hang up and drive.

The second driver involved was probably rubbernecking the first accident... It's something that just happens around here. LOL! Watch out for yourself when driving in eastern NC. "There's dingbats in them there hills..."

Those Pesky Children! Why should they be allowed to ride in cars and distract people!? Really.

to Whoa: It is not always a phone. There are plenty of distractions when driving these days but some accidents are not caused by distraction. I was in an accident recently and my phone, Ipod, radio, ect had nothing to do with it. That's why they are called accidents. I pray that everyone in these accidents are ok.

Or rip the radio out of the car, take the Ipod away, leave the kids at home. There are plenty of things that distract drivers these days, why do assume it was a phone?
