Hundreds Of Kids Turn Out For Easter Egg Hunt In Greenville

Over at the Boys and Girls Club of Winterville the hunt was on for Easter eggs.

Officials say about 750 kids came to partake in the Easter egg hunt put on by the Discovery and Ignite Churches of Greenville.

Church officials hid about twenty-five thousand eggs all across the grounds at the Boys and Girls Club.

Inside each egg was a treat. Some had candy while others were kicked up some karate lessons.

The two churches hope to join with other area churches to make the event even bigger next year.

Devoutly religious people should have never incorporated things like cars and planes into their lives. Even electricity should be considered inappropriate by true Christians. The Amish are the only people that I respect (of the religious types). If you don't live like they do, you're a hypocrite. The Easter Bunny and Santa (Satan?) are deceptive tactics. Sure they make children smile...so does LSD and Cocaine....are you gonna give your children drugs, too?

Yes, Jesus has blessed me in many ways! I'm having a conversation about Him with you! Too many times Christians do get a bad rep for things they do, the good, bad, and ugly. And for the Easter Egg Hunt, silly?, there were over 700 children that had smiles on their faces. And I'm sure there were some happy parents too. Silly or not, you missed the point, Discovery Church and Ignite Church just wanted to let the folks of this city know that we care about you, and YOU too! We just wanted to bring a smile to a childs face, and give families an opportunity to spend some time together... for Free! There was only one person who was perfect that walked the face of this Earth! And that was Jesus Christ! I am not perfect by no means, and neither are you! Come to Church with us. We meet at the Boys and Girls Club on Firetower Road in Winterville on Sundays at 10:10am. Tell me how can I help you? Backwards or not, God loves YOU! Believe it or not!

Anonymous I feel so bad that you feel that the Creator of all things is no better than UFO's or bigfoot. I'm sorry that you feel the traditions that have been created to help children enjoy these wonderful holidays make us backward. I would like to point out that very few churches use Bibles that use Thee and Thy anymore. My suggestion to you, before you begin attacking people for their believes, get the whole story strict.

To DC: "How am I being the example for God? I tend my flock of sheep and raise my children to do right and be fair. (j/k) LMAO...I don't follow such outdated rules. I also don't believe in UFOs or Bigfoot. God is a great concept for keeping the populace in line. But when you already live and conduct yourself as well or BETTER than the Bible teaches, you see the folly of following traditions and rituals from 2000 years ago. I'd continue writing but it's impossible to communicate with people with backward mentalities. You keep using this "God" connotation that makes your thoughts seem archaic. I'm surprised some of you don't use words like "Thee" & "Thy". But there are worse ways to be, so I leave you to your silly egg hunt. May Jesus and the Easter Bunny bless you.

Last year we went to the Boys and Girls club for the easter hunt. It was just as DC partner described, "no strings" attached. It was very well put together and thoughtful. Its just fun for the kids. So I'm taking it you don't have children because if you did, you would realize how important "make believe" is. And yes we "Christians" do celebrate Easter with traditions such as the easter egg hunts and the Easter bunny, but we teach our children the reason we celebrate. Glory be to our Savior, He has risen. Another wonderful things about Christians is we do in compromise on things like the Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny to make things fun for the kids. It may be paganish but we keep the meaning to our kids.

That wasn't our mission to "avoid resistance"... our mission was to say we care about YOU and no strings attatched... just like God's love! Easter is not about the Easter Bunny nor the eggs.. or candy. We wanted to show Greenville and Pitt County that as Christians, we can be the example that God wanted us to be... NO Strings attached! My Question to you is how are you being the example for God? What effort are you making to make sure people see God through YOU?

Ah, the Easter Bunny & his Easter Eggs. The Christians way to usher in (as well as avoid resistance) the Celebration of a Holy tradition passed down through the ages, in a way that children will be attracted to without really understanding all the truths about it. Just like Santa Claus.
