Saturday was full of emotions and anger as Grifton Elementary School parents and students spoke out about all the issues that are going on behind closed doors.
Several people came out to the Grifton Town Common demanding some type of change at the top of their school.
The problem sparked after the softball coach Haywood Dillahunt was suspended three weeks ago.
Ever since parents and students have been asking the question why? School officials have no given a direct answer citing personnel issues.
Many parents feel the issues at the school go far beyond the coach. Most of the crowd that gathered in Grifton wants school principal Ronda Sortino and her staff removed.
Sarah Carr who is a student at the school explained how she feels.
"I actually don't know how she feels about the subject but I don't think she really cares about the students," Carr said Saturday.
Organizers say they are going to take this process step by step.
The first of which is the petition signed by students and parents that will be given to the Pitt County School Board in efforts to hire a new principal.
