Authorities released new information about a mother accused of abusing her 10 week old baby.
The Pitt County Sheriff's Office says 27 year old Sandy Etheridge shook her son Dakota so violently he has brain injuries and is in critical condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
According to authorities, Etheridge was with her son all morning of the 22nd then left the child in the custody of her roommate once he arrived home.

Authorities say Etheridge has four other children that have been taken away by Department of Social Services.
It's unknown why they were removed from the home.
