Job Site Safety Pays Off For Local Company

Safety on the Job Site was the focus for one company here in the east receiving an award for a safe atmosphere.

DSM Pharmaceuticals in Greenville received the North Carolina Department of labor's million hour safety award.

DOL Commissioner Cherri Berry presented the award to the plant for not having an accident on the Job Site in over one million hours.

DSM employs over 2 thousand people at the Greenville location, an achievement the company is very proud of.

According to the Department of Labor, North Carolina leads the nation in safety in the workplace.

Awesome accomplishment, Contratulations! Please Witn report the complete story so that people have a better understanding of the award. I'm quite certain that this award was for not having a lost-time accident for one million hours. Still a super accomplishment, just not the way the story reads.

What happened to my comments? There was nothing wrong with the statement. 1,000,000 hours only takes 62.5 days to occur when you have 2,000 employees. The HammockSource in Greenville got the award in the late 90's and they had less than 150 employees. Took them over four years to get it.

Safety is all they care about...not employees. Just making sure there are NO incidents...
