Clerk Dodges Bullet In Attempted Robbery

A store clerk working overnight managed to dodge a would-be robber's bullet, and now police are investigating the crime.

Greenville Police say the employee at the Trade Wilco on Memorial Drive near the airport was locking the door just before 11 Tuesday night, when a gunman walked up. Police say the store clerk saw the masked, hooded man pull a gun. The employee ducked as the gunman fired into the store, detectives say. The bullet missed the clerk. Police say the gunman took off running, and a K-9 was unable to track his scent. Police are investigating.

If you have information about this crime, police ask you to call the Greenville Police Department at (252) 329-4315 or Pitt Greenville Crime Stoppers (252) 758-7777.

I agree with "Justice". EVERY person who works a night shift should take the time and spend the money to get trained and get a Concealed Handgun Permit. I worked nights at a hotel and ALWAYS had "a little something" on my belt. The Courts has ruled that the police are under no legal obligation to provide protection for individuals (Warren v. DC, DeShaney v. Winnebago County, Balistreri v. Pacifica Police Department). Average 911 response time in the Pitt Co/Beaufort Co areas is about 13 minutes. A LOT can happen in that time. SELF DEFENSE is a HUMAN RIGHT. Take responsibility for your own safety, people, because the State, the County, and the City are NOT legally responsible for your individual personal safety...

trust me people, you don't want store employees to be walking around with a load weapon with or without anytype of training. I would refuse to work with anyone that is carrying a gun. This goes with the territory, there is other ways to be safe.

Every employee who works in a store should get training and their CCP. And allow them to shoot thugs even on the run after they attempt to rob somewhere.

If these victims, whether ther be in store or at home, started to use guns on these low-lifes, killed one or two, paralyze a few more, shoot a few more with results in minor injuries, the crime rate would see a change for the better in no time. Just a thought....The 2nd Amendment wasn't written just for protection against a tyranical government!

This happens on a regular basis in Greenville and they never get caught, but if you run a red light 3 or 4 cops will be all over you strip searching and tearing your car all to hell.By the way, people always assume that these are drug addicts diong this, but I beg to differ.Drug addicts only own guns for a few minutes before they sell them for crack. Most of this is done by guys that are not good at selling drug and refuse to work for a living. They could atleast have the cops patrol these stores at night before some young idiot decides to kill one of these clerks just to have something to brag about.

You know, Rose Glover thinks most of the problems in Greenville are because of racism.

I agree with truth, they will not do anything but keep them in jail for a little while go to court pay a fine, and go and do it again.
