Popular Shortcut = Long Detour This Week

Construction on Grimesland Bridge Road in Pitt County is creating a 23 mile detour.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation says that Grimesland Bridge Road will be closed this week, starting at 8 a.m. Monday. Crews will be doing work on putting in a new bridge. Work is scheduled to be complete by 5 p.m. Friday.

The recommended detour is 23 miles long. Drivers will be routed to NC 33 into Greenville, US 264 Alternate and then back on to US 264.
