Winter Storm Increases Business For Auto Body Repair Shops

Busted, broken, and crumpled--that's the shape many drivers saw their vehicles in this weekend after authorities report hundreds of accidents here in the east.

Pitt County Highway Patrol says they responded to over 100 wrecks this weekend. And for body shops, that means extra business.

Shawn Edwards from Brown & Wood in Greenville says, "It's probably about a 25 percent increase in business. Most of the time we write between eight to twelve estimates every Monday. We're a little bit more than that today."

In order to stay out of the body shops--authorities advise drivers to drive slowly around curves and bridges. While black ice is difficult to detect, troopers say if the road looks shiny and wet, your best bet is to assume it's black ice.

Hey Jim, Not if you happen to work for a repair shop. Body shops haven't had much work due to the recession, so every bit helps.
