Pirate Fans Welcome Coach McNeill With Open Arms

Pirate fans were able to meet their new head football Ruffin McNeill for the first time in Greenville Friday.

The crowd was full of applause for the new head coach of the East Carolina Pirates.

Fans listened as McNeill laid out his plan for the Pirate football team.

Up first, getting his staff together and focusing on recruitment.

McNeill who is a former Pirate football player says Greenville is his destination, not a stepping stone.

Fans are very optimistic that the decisions he will make will lead the pirate nation to great things in seasons to come.

Coach McNeill left Texas Tech for ECU and is excited to bring his passion for the game.

To Stat man, you must be making that up. I saw on an article on ESPN where ECU is the leading candidate to fill in the next available position if the Pitt Panthers get into the Big 10, which I hope they do. The only other schools that have been considered are Central Florida and Marshall. Plus, Memphis is way too far west and the Big East needs a team out of the State of NC. ECU would really improve the Big East in football. I support Coach Ruff 100%.

Congratulations! Your gain is our loss. Coach McNeill is loved, and respected in Raider Nation. I'm a Red Raider fan, and always will be. Now though East Carolina has a new fan. I guarantee I will not be the last one. Go Pirates!!!

Why would the Big East want Memphis over ECU? The only thing Memphis is good in is basketball? I recall Stat Man being wrong about alot of stuff last football season!

As a credible source let me just say this. The Big East has NO interest in ECU! They are interested in Navy and Memphis.

Well guess what its not going to be a stepping stone school to much longer. I read on espn that ecu will be joining the big east pretty soon. If we can have this much success in con usa, think about how much better we will be in the big east. People act like ECU is horrible at sports, i know our basketball team is not good but our baseball program has made to the ncaa tournment the past ten years. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=schlabach_mark&id=4846268

For some people, high School coaching is where they want to be, for some, it's good enough to be at a mid major. Hes an Alumni. I believe him

ECU is still a mid major, still in CUSA, and still a stepping stone. That is not going to change no matter who the coach is.
