Heart Institute Performs 70,000 Procedures In First Year

The new heart institute at Pitt County Memorial Hospital is marking its one year anniversary.

In the first year the institute has treated more than 6,000 inpatients and performed more than 70,000 procedures. That's more that 191 procedures a day.

The six story 220-million-dollar facility employs more than 500 people and paid more than $27 million in salaries and benefits during its first year.

I am a proud employee too! Alot of people don't realized but the 6th floor is orthapedics not cardiovascular. Alot of people come in to have knee, hip and back surgeries. These are optional surgeries, the patients choice. This building has given all of us to treat more patients and we are taking full advantage of it! I am happy to be a part of it!!

That is great to know that all the patients left the hospital alive, that speaks very highly of the facility. Great success rate. Wish all hospital had 100% survival rate with heart patients.

Dear anonymous, they are saving lives. I never had anyone in my family in the hospital (except for babies being born). In the last 4 years we have had in our family 2 brain surgeries, 4 heart attacks (with a total of 4 stents)and kidney surgery. With God's work and the excellent work of the doctors and nurses all 5 family members have made excellent recoveries. I am so grateful and thankful that we here in eastern North Carolina have such an excellent place as PCMH. You really never know how blessed you are until you need help. To all the doctors and nurses at PCMH I say GOD BLESS AND THANK YOU

At 6,000 patients, that is 11 procedures per patient. What are they doing to those poor people?

Proud to be employed at PCMH. The medical team of our hospital now serves the entire world with expert medical care. Being a Pitt County brat, I am proud to ride past the building and read PITT COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.
