MEDICAL EXAMINER: Woman Killed In Weekend Crash

The Pitt County Medical Examiner's Office says Heather Lee has died as a result of a traffic accident Saturday night.

Troopers say the 21-year-old Lee was driving a vehicle that crashed at Highway 264-A and Old Pactolus Road in Pitt County.

Both Lee and passenger Jack Davenport, Jr. were thrown from the crash. Troopers say neither was wearing a seat belt.

Troopers say an Ayden woman was critically injured in a traffic accident Saturday evening in Pitt County.

Early Monday morning and just before noon Monday, highway patrol officials told WITN News Heather Lee was still at the hospital. At that time, hospital officials said her condition was undetermined.

WITN checked again at 4:30 p.m. Monday. Hospital officials said Lee is still listed in their system with a condition of undetermined.

WITN uses information from hospital officials or law enforcement to report an accident victim's condition.

The Highway Patrol says Lee's car veered off the right shoulder and hit another vehicle that was at a stop sign Saturday.

They say her car then flipped several times, throwing Lee and her passenger out of the car.

The crash happened on Highway 264-A. The 21-year-old Lee and the passenger, Jack Davenport, Jr. were taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Troopers say Lee and Davenport were not wearing seat belts. Those in the other vehicle were not seriously injured.
