Police: Two People Shot Near Greenville Club

Two people were shot early Saturday morning near a Greenville club, according to police.

The owner of Club Fusion says the shooting did not happen at his establishment.

The original news release from police stated the shooting happened at the club. It stated officers responded to a call for service of shots fired at Club Fusion on West Fifth Street at 2:43 a.m.

We contacted the Greenville police for clarification.

Police officials say the first victim was shot after he left the club and was getting into a vehicle outside. Upon review, they say they can't say he was on club property when the shooting happened. They also say the second victim was shot farther up the street, farther away from the club.

They say shortly after the shooting, two men arrived at the PCMH Emergency room.

Police say 25-year-old Joshua Vines of Fountain and 29-year-old Demetrice Jenkins of Greenville both had gun shot wounds but were expected to be okay.

Officials say there are no suspects at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Greenville Police Department or Pitt/Greenville Crimestoppers at 252-758-7777.

I agree with Cactus! I'm a black college female and I have been in Greenville for 9 years and these people should want something better in life other than to thug it out all the time. But all they will ever be are statistics. Some of us want the finer things that life has to offer!!! So they need to be sent away for hard time better yet send them to Iraq since they want to fight and shoot up something that way our troops can come home to their families.

I can not believe what I am reading in some of these comments? Police States? Tanks and Barbwire? Are you serious? How about education. Ignorance is the enemy. We need to weed out these stupid gangbangers and get them off the streets. I see it every time I go out to the clubs. Put some undercovers in these clubs so they can respond quickly. I am not for however, indiscriminate arresting of people. I'm not going to allow anyone to take away my rights, even though I am an upstanding citizen. Anyways, safety is only an illusion. Anything can happen. Be smart. You want to make sure people don't bring weapons into clubs, put up metal detectors. Problem solved, make weekend nights like Halloween. Do that if you really want to be safe. Extreme measures if you want. In the end, I don't know if anything will change.

They need to shut down downtown. Instead of taking our tax payers money and putting down new sidewalks for people to spit their gum out on!!!!! How many people are going to get hurt before somebody does something other than close the road down!!!! That doesn't keep the crazy people out of the club!!!

Closing 5th st on Fri/Sat nights didn't help, now THAT'S a surprise! Now they'll just shoot IN the club instead of waiting until they exit the club. Sounds great! Way to go guys, keep on top of that crime! I felt safer living in down town Atl, GA! As far as "the system," get caught with a bag of pot, go to jail for 5 years , get caught shooting somebody, probally get a plea agreement and back on the streets! Easy $ for the gov't, less paper work and man power used to investigate! Sad, but true!

The prisons are full. the jails full.I know a judge who told me their hands are tied because they have nowhere to put them(the criminals),if they build a prison it will be full in a few days.the ACLU and the liberal lawyers have the U.S constitution so screwed up till it's a merry-go-round judicial system. If a person ventures out at night they do so at their own risk.go figure. a criminal commits a crime with a gun and they try to enact more gun legislation aimed at the law abiding citizen.then the blogs start.he was a good person.he was just misunderstood.his mother tried to raise him right.BOO! HOO! HOO!HOO! HOO!

To Neil Shlonson:I agree with some of your rock solid attitudes on some occassions, but you can not shut down every place that has situations like this.(although this place should be)You cant blame somebody for someone elses actions.I understand that you fault for this country which is a great thing and should be respected with the upmost grattitude. But doing the things that you want to do on this post sounds like communist Russia,Iran,Iraq and so on.Now if they go ahead and have corporal punishment Immediately these dumb@$$e$ would probably think a little harder before they act uncivilized. If not then bag em and tag em.

Let me put this into perspective for the unfortunate people who lack basic common intelligence in this area. No matter who the Police Chief is, these kinds of crime are going to continue. Yes, you can put a dent in them but thugs are not as stupid as you think they are. We have laws and rights in place that unfortunateley apply to a thugs. All you people who vote for Liberal Politicians make me sick. THANK YOUR LIBERAL JUDGES AND CONGRESSMEN AND WOMEN! You people vote them into place to give these thugs slap on the wrist after slap on the wrist. Police do the best job they can with the tools they have. Don't complain if your not backing your Local Law Enforcement. All the work that goes into Police that work informants for drugs and guns, do you ever here about that? Do you think Greenville PD officers with family's want this going on where they live as well? Next election think very hard which judges your voting for and stop crying like little baby's, growing cities =more crime.

Mr. Shlonson, I would remind you of the words of Benjamin Franklin: "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." The PEOPLE of the city of Greenville should take an active interest in raising their children, protecting their own families and property, and should not shelter and support the thugs that plague our neighborhoods. THAT would be a far better solution that your proposed "temporary" police state. Temporary measures of "security" implemented by the government are never temporary, and are never beneficial for the Freedom of good people...
