The Greenville man behind bars in one of the most talked about crimes of 2009 is facing a new criminal charge Wednesday.
James Richardson has been in the Pitt County Detention Center since July, accused in a double murder in Greenville. He is now facing a charge of assault on a government official.
Pitt County Sheriff Mac Manning says Richardson became belligerent with detention officers Monday, even punching an officer when they tried to handcuff Richardson. Manning says the officer then used a taser to subdue Richardson.
Richardson is charged with the June 30th murders of Landon Blackley and Andrew Kirby. They were shot dead outside The Other Place night club in Greenville.
