NEW INFO: Stabbing Suspect Court Date Postponed

The court date for a Greenville man accused of a stabbing another man on a city bus has been delayed until next year.

Twenty-six year-old Jonathan Strickland of Greenville was scheduled to appear in Pitt County court Tuesday morning. Pitt Community College police say Strickland stabbed Nelson Williams during a fight on the bus two weeks ago.

Williams survived the stabbing, which happened on a Greenville Area Transit bus while on the campus of Pitt Community College. Police say the two started fighting on the bus because of a previous dispute.

Court officials say Strickland's new court date is February 10th.

I was not aware we had a city bus in Greenville. If there is one, it certainly doesn't have enough stops around town to be convenient or useful. But I've lived in much larger cities so perhaps I've been spoiled.

PCC is just surrounded by bad luck. A rape and then a couple weeks later a stabbing. Though it was contained fairly quickly, with the tuition going up there needs to be more law enforcement and security cameras ALL over campus. If this guy had gotten away there would have been footage from a security camera for an open and shut case....just saying...

In New York City it is considered a felony ((up to 7 years) in prison for assaulting a city employee. This would make people think twice before putting their hands on people. People like him have no major responsibilities: job, rent, real bills...he needs to be put away.
