Woman Shot Twice In Pitt County

A Pitt County woman was shot twice early Thursday morning before thieves ransacked her home.

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office says they got a call about the shooting just after 2am.

34 year old Rebecca Reichenberg told authorities 3 masked men burst into her home demanding money on Watkins Way near Farmville.

She said they asked her where her husband was and then shot her twice, once in the left buttocks and again in the left upper thigh. Authorities say the men then allegedly started tearing her house up, going through each room looking for money but they didn’t actually steal anything.

Reichenberg was transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

-previous story-

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible shooting early this morning.

We're told the call came in sometime after two this morning on Watkins Way, which is off Stantonsburg Road in Farmville.

Pitt County dispatch would only say there was an incident and the sheriff's department was still on the scene early this morning.

Stay with WITN and witn.Com as we continue to gather more details.

If indeed it was a shooting, it will be the second in Pitt County this week.

Tuesday, one person was shot in the leg on Nathaniel Drive behind the old Pitt County Fairgrounds during a home invasion. The victim is recovering at home. Five suspects have been arrested.

To Okay: It doesn't matter at all to me why someone would break in;be it to steal or anything else. The act of breaking in is what will earn them a HydraShock center of mass.

You people actually believe this woman. They broke in but did not steal anything. Then why did they break in. Just to shoot her huh. I wish the media would stop running these stories does not make any sense.

KJ I agree completely, however, if the guberment has its way you will have to hit them with a board before they shoot you. The guberment is working deligently to take away your firearms so you can not defend yourself. Thank Debroah Ross (D-Wake) and Ronnie Sutton (D-Roberson) for their deligent efforts to prevent you from protecting yourself! I pray this poor victim recovers and the thugs who did this get what is comning to them!
