Final Auto Insurance Ring Defendant Sentenced

The last defendant in an auto insurance ring that went on for four years has been sentenced in the case according to the state.

The eighth person sentenced is 35-year-old Cory Jett of Glendale Court in Greenville. Prosecutors say Jett was one of the people involved in a staged auto accident ring, run by Rayon Artis of Greenville. The eight have been sentenced for buying salvaged cars out of state, staging car crashing and submitting fake medical and vehicle damage insurance claims.

Jett pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense. Jett received suspended jail time, 24 months parole and was ordered to pay nearly $2,000 in restitution to Progressive Insurance.

Sounds like crime might have paid in this case $2,000 for four years of criminal activity.I guess the legally insured motorist will have to eat it in insurance cost increases.
