Nearly three out of every four counties in NC has a higher unemployment rate than last month, with one in the east hitting 17 percent.
Edgecombe County continues to have one of the highest unemployment rates in the state, at 17 percent. As for the major metropolitan areas in Eastern Carolina, Greenville's rate stayed the same for October, at 10 percent. Jacksonville's rate actually decreased to 8 percent. Rocky Mount's increased to 13.7 percent. Goldsboro's unemployment held steady at 8.8 percent.
