NEW INFO: Farmville Shooting Death Ruled Self Defense

There will be no charges filed in a confrontation that turned deadly in Farmville.

Ellis Hunter died Sunday from injuries he received a week ago on Main Street in Farmville. Police say Hunter was shot twice after a fight with William Payton. Payton was also stabbed.

Based on witnesses and evidence collected, police say Hunter went to Payton's vehicle and started stabbing him through the window. Payton managed to get out of the vehicle and was able to get a pistol and shoot Hunter.

Police say Wednesday they met with District Attorney Clark Everette who decided that the death was a case of self defense.

Ellis hunter was one of my cousins and he was not the smartest man on earth I know he's done a lot of senseless things and he did not stab payton over just 5 dollars because if anything payton attak first and poited the gun at hunter and hunter had all right to go up and stab him for selfdefence R.I.P I love you and miss you.

This is awful, and it's terrible that someone's life is gone because of something so senseless. But please remember as you are commenting, that EACH of these boys is someone's son, brother and friend. Ellis's family feels a loss right now, and it's not stupid to encourage his family to be strong during their time of bereavement. Our prayers should go out to both families, and to the community.

Just wanted to say this is definetely not the first time someone died in Farmville over $5.00, and its just plain stupid to fight over something so small and lose your life. R.I.P Lee cruz.

I think the state needs to hire Blackwater to sweep this state at the middle of the nights when thugs are out and do there job.

Hunter died there's no coming back from that. Payton has to live with that, knowing that he had to defend himself. I pray for Payton because praying for Hunter would be useless He's dead

Young black men killing young black men. When is all of this stupid killing going to stop? No one is doing this to our community but ourselves. We need to pull our self out of this endless cycle.

Ellis Hunter learned a very valuable lesson the hard way.. Don't take a knife to a gun fight. All of this was over five dollars people..$5.00! If he would cut and stab his "friend" over five dollars, imagine what he would have done to someone he disliked! "Kountry Boy", the streets are crazy because of the people like ellis hunter. Unfortunately we can't just go and kill them off or else we could solve the problem quick like. A double tap to the chest will leave a nice sucking chest wound and cure alot of our problems that plague our streets and neighborhoods. I would have gave that sorry S.O.B. lead poison myself if he came cutting on me.
