Safest Place To Live In Eastern Carolina?

Where's the safest city to live in Eastern Carolina? A new book says it's Jacksonville.

Jacksonville ranked 150 out of 393 cities in "City Crime Rankings 2009-2010" from CQ Press.

The rankings take into account murders, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle thefts. The rankings include all cities of at least 75,000 residents that reported crime data to the FBI for calendar year 2008.

Greenville was ranked 267th on the list, while Cary was the safest place in North Carolina, ranked 19th in the nation.

Other North Carolina cities ranked were Raleigh at 199, Durham at 296, Wilmington at 307, Greensboro at 319, Winston-Salem at 320, Charlotte at 324, and Fayetteville at 340.

You and your buddy TAD need to move from Williamston. Martin County is one of the safest county to live in. If you think that Williamston is horrible than go move where there is no crime which is in fantasy land. I know why don't you both live together. It obvious that neither one of you have a wife or husband. Since you go looking for crime everyday. . I live in Williamston go to the Walmart basically all around Williamston and all I see is happy people. No one ever talks about crime. Yet you and good ole TAD seem to think that Williamston is a danger zone.

Just because the news agencies report a murder, rape, or etc. happened in Onslow County, doesn't mean it happened in Jacksonville.

How is this possible? Jacksonville and Onslow county are in the news everyday, sometimes several times a day reporting bad things going on! I could not believe it when I saw this on the news!!

4th thru 9th streets could be safe if we enforced curfews. otherwise, those areas are very similar to gang lands in east LA. drug dealers, thieves, potential murderers & rapists. Lets continue to clean up our city!

is out of the cities. If you can afford it...move out to the country. No section 8 housing out in the sticks ;)

I am a Marine stationed here in Jacksonville. I do understand the concerns for the Marines being out in town between deployments. This concern is valid, but keep in mind, the majority of the population are ages 18-22. In ANY city where the vast majority of your population are young, high school educated, combat trained yound men and women, then you are going to have issues. Not to mention that I am fairly certain that legal issues that occur on base are not counted as Jacksonville issues.
