ONLY ON WITN: Victim's Mother Speaks Out About Sunday Murder

The mother of the victim killed in Greenville on Sunday says her daughter was not part of a gang just a loving mother.

22 year-old Kendra Blount was shot and later died at Pitt County Memorial Hospital Sunday morning.

Caprice Hayes, Kendra Blount's mother, says her daughter was followed from a downtown Greenville nightclub called the Phoenix.

Blount and others would be kicked out of the club and the fight would continue outside.

Blount's mother says her daughter was not part of a gang and she has a message for those accused.

"Their kids. They still have their life," said Hayes. "They have an opportunity to ask for forgiveness and just change their way and just make a better life for themselves. Then my daughter wouldn't have died in vain," Hayes Said.

I just want to give my condolences to the family of Kendra, but my questions is when will the violence stop when will we learn that guns don't kill people we as humans do. My question to everyone:mother, father, daughter, aunt, uncle and especially PASTORS! When will we learn to come together as one and educate and facilate the ones that need it, so what she was out at 3am we don't learn from what we hear we learn by what we see,When people joins gangs it is not that they just want to be a thug, but they want respect and love something that they should be getting from us, mothers fathers, uncles, pastors and teachers. My heart aches for our future generation;by the rate they going we will have nothing this is for all nationalities stop the violence and increase the peace! You want to do something PRAY!!!!!about and stop talking about it.Remember a child learns from what they see,so be an example. To the family remember there is a time to live and a time to die. We all have an apptnt time.

My condolences to the family. But, wake up people! Is no one going to learn from this?! No mother should be getting into fights at clubs, have a MySpace that looks like she is a banger, and be out as late as she was! I heard she was pregnant, too! Really?!

The comments that people are writing up here shouldn't even be posted up here.Because i know when Kendra's mother and family look at this they are very hurt.My heart goes out to her mother and most of all those children who are without a mother. It angers me to know how these so call gang members are around here KILLING innocent people and they dont even care. What happen to the old fashion way, battling it out with your fist. Put them guns down and be real about yours. Stop the violence and learn to handle matters in other ways. Being killed over some mess that you don't even know nothing about is sad. I just don't understand it was between two female gangs, then why in the world was dudes in it. Following people is so overrated. You solve nothing by pulling out guns. This is just another example of minorities acting a fool.KEEP YOUR HEAD UP TO ALL OF KENDRA'S FAMILY!!!!

J-Dubb I feel your pain but I don't think some of these people do. I think some of these comments are down right disrespectful. Who are you people to judge anyone. It brings me to outrage to hear people say she shouldn't have been in the club. SHE IS 22. She may have kids but I think if the kids were in a safe environment then she had all rights to go out and have fun. The gang part really gets me. I mean just because you throw up a sign does not make you a gang member. Me and one of my cousins are very guilty of throwing up signs in photos be we don't belong to a gang we just do it for fun. But even though I didn't get to know you Kendra I hope you rest in peace. And in my eyes you did nothing wrong.

Well if the girls were fighting how did the guys get involve? Like I said I am sorry for your lost, but if Kendra was my friend and I was in a fight that cause her death I would feel responsible for the rest of my life. So it would be just like I pulled the trigger.

By now, the laying to rest of this young woman is probably taking place; I pray that God will have mercy on her, and her family/friends find consolation that she has brought public attention to lifestyle choices by our young people. Perhaps, something good can come out of this, on her behalf.

Wake up AA community! This is not about the SCLC or NAACP or any of that nonsense...this is about families!"Train up a child in the way he/she should go and when he/she is old enough, he/she will not depart from it." Get your "children" under control before they kill all of each other and us!

Here again if a black shoots a black the SCLC does not care. They only want to get media attention if a black shoots a white. These are humans and the SCLC should fight for their rights regardless of their color.
