A woman has two good Samaritans to thank for getting her safely out of her sunken car Thursday afternoon.
Troopers tell WITN News that the woman fell asleep at the wheel, her SUV hit a mail box and then went out of control. Her SUV ended up in a small stream that was swollen with flood waters.
It happened on Highway 43, south of Greenville.
The Highway Patrol says a passing motorist and a neighbor pulled the woman, who is in her 60's, to safety. She was sent to Pitt County Memorial Hospital for only minor injuries.
