Pollard Rejects Plea Deal, Pleads Not Guilty

A former sheriff's deputy has rejected a plea deal from prosecutors.

During a hearing in Pitt County Superior Court, former Lt. Michelle Pollard instead entered a not guilty plea. Her trial is scheduled for January 25th.

She is accused of tipping off the target of a drug investigation while working as a deputy.

Pollard was indicted this summer on one count of obstruction of justice and one count of willful failure to discharge duties. The lieutenant left the sheriff's department July 1st, just weeks before her arrest.

A former Sheriff's Lieutenant is due in court Wednesday, accused of tipping off the target of a drug investigation.

Michelle Pollard is due in Pitt County Superior Court Wednesday morning. Pollard was indicted this summer on one count of obstruction of justice and one count of willful failure to discharge duties. The lieutenant left the sheriff's department July 1st.

She is appealing a decision by the Sheriff's Education And Training Standards Commission to revoke her law enforcement certification. The commission said she was seen smoking marijuana and taking part in a wet t-shirt contest.
