Best Doctors List

Dozens of physicians from Eastern Carolina have been chosen by their peers for inclusion in the 2009-2010 "Best Doctors" list.

Most of the local doctors on the list are from the Brody Medical School at East Carolina University.

A Boston-based group called Best Doctors Inc. compiles the list each year.

More than 30,000 doctors across America who made the listing previously are asked which doctors they would want treating themselves or their loved ones. Only 5% of doctors who practice in North Carolina make the list.

Forty of the doctors on the list are from ECU's Brody School of Medicine. Four of the doctors on the list are from Washington.

Drs. Diana J. Antonacci, John M. Diamond and Kaye L. McGinty, psychiatric medicine

Dr. Williams should've been at the top of the list. He is the best eastern NC has ever had.

Dr. JM Williams is an outstanding doctor. He is one of the best EVER. Dr. Rodriguez, Dr. Kypson, Dr. Koutlas, Dr. Moran, Dr. Anderson, Dr. Ferguson, along with Dr. Chitwood are wonderful and they all should have been at the top of the list. Words cannot express their level of care and dedication to their patients. We have seen them in action for many years and can say that we are proud to work with such wonderful surgeons!

i'm sure all the doctors on the list deserve the honor, as well as many more. but none approach the care and compassion of the old timey gp's. dr. raeford pugh, for example. an excellent diagnostician from his training, and not from an endless series of tests. dr.pugh was a real person.

I notice it said cardiovascular sciences and not cardiovascular surgery for Chitwood. He has a high surgical infection rate.

Wow. SHOCKING. One is responsible for my father no longer being here. We were told at UNC-Chapel Hill that is my father had gotten there sooner they could have saved him. BEWARE CARTERET COUNTY! Be very proactive in your care and if you are not getting attention in a timely manner, leave and go to another town entirely!!!!!
