Four People Hospitalized After Highway 264 Accident

Four people are hurt after two cars crashed Friday night on Highway 264 between Washington and Greenville.

The four victims were taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, but officials said none of them had life-threatening injuries.

Lawmen say charges are pending against one of the drivers.

The accident was in the area of Ram's Horn Road. The accident blocked Highway 264 for a time, forcing traffic to stop in that direction.

I have just read the article and the comments. Whether it be G'ville, Washington, ect. People do not drive responsibly. Many many times a car will pull out of a side road and you have to slam on brakes and you look to see nothing at all behind you. Everyone just needs to slow down and drive with responsibility and be respectfull of the person in the other car. And if we all could imagine a family member in the car, in front, behind and beside,I believe we would take our time on the road, and be alot more considerate. Drive safe everyone

Im within walking distance from the area of the wreck. My family actually owns land where one of the cars landed. I don't think its right to say all Pitt Co. drivers are bad. They were heading EAST towards Washington, who's to say they aren't from Beaufort Co. driving home? There terrible drivers everywhere, Greenville happens to have ECU where students from out town come and move to Pitt Co. that's the problem there! Maybe the Hwy Patrol should focus more on stopping those careless drives going 70 on a 55mph hwy.

Well...put down your cell phone, respect the rules of the road, and remember that driving is a huge responsibility, oh and it also helps if you remember that "you" are not the center of the universe. I hope all are ok. We were almost in an accident this afternoon because someone was trying to text and drive. BTW, everyone...please learn how to use the 4-way stop...for your review: whoever gets there first, goes first, if you get there at the same time, the person on your right goes first...now get out there and drive safely!

While I realize you are probably making only a comparison of one local area to another local area, I spent 6 weeks in Pitt county and saw fewer accidents/near accidents than I did on the way home from the airport in L.A. county - where the average is 16 accidents per hour (which is down from last yr.) I have lived in other states and regions, so I have a broader comparitive scale than that.. & frankly, I prefer Pitt county.

I use to work for the N.C D.O.C in pitt county. the Pitt county/Greenville area has some of the most reported accidents in the state.I have to travel to Durham to duke hospital 2 to 3 times per week.I travel 264 and dread getting near pitt county.I had to return greenville on friday from Durham with no problem but in greenville almost had a wreck when a car cut me off and on the way to Grifton I witnessed 2 more near accidents.people in pitt county can't drive.

I agree Cindi. Considering I know someone who is in Greenville, and Im on the other side of the country, I myself am concerned about such events and think and would prefer to see posts about THIS event on this event, not criticisms about wanting to see something else. I hope that everyone in the accident is ok and recovers quickly from any injuries. It could have been so much worse, Im sure.

There was a WITN news car at the fire. I pray for all the prople are doing good from the wreck. The car that the firemen were in had Red Oak Fire on it.They got the man out before the fire truck got there.

Maybe WITN,had not yet gotten the info you are requesting.Hmmmmm.Sounds like negativity very early in the morning. Some just die to find fault. On another note...I hope these people came out of this wreck with non lasting injuries.

To Greenville. I agree. Many hrs. of dedication of EMS, Law enforcement goes unappreciated. Only the "mistakes" of this human service group is reported. If you need EMS in Pitt County at 3am, they roll out with dedication while the rest of the world sleeps. Been there, done that for 25 years. And yes, many times not even a "thank you"
