Donated Cell Phones Helping Women Of Domestic Violence

Saving lives and stopping abuse with a simple call all made possible by your donations..

That was the theme of the day and as members of the Family Violence Program of Pitt County collected donated cell phones that will be used to help woman who are in abusive relationships.

The agency says for woman who's phones may have been broken by their abuser the donated phones can be activated so they can call for help.

Court Advocate Chelsey Waters said Saturday,"for those who are in an abusive relationship and they can't afford a phone we give our clients phones they can call 911 in emergency situations."

In a similar event held last April about 128 cell phones were collected.
