Woman Charged With DWI After Crash Injures 8 People

Greenville police have charged a 39-year-old woman with DWI after a wreck this morning that involved five vehicles. That wreck closed down a major intersection in the city.

The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. at Greenville Boulevard and 10th Street. The busy intersection was shut down for almost an hour as rescue crews cleaned up the 5 vehicle crash.

One of the vehicles in the crash was a Greenville Fire Department pickup truck.

Charged with DWI, failure to reduce speed and driving while license revoked was 39-year-old Angela Shoe of May Circle. The police report says there were two children in the woman's car, ages 5 & 9 years old.

According to the Department of Corrections website, a 39-year-old Angela Shoe is a parole/probation absconder. The Shoe listed on the DOC website was convicted in 2008 in Lenoir County for driving without a license and in 2006 in Greene County on a shoplifting-related charge.

The fire department says eight people were taken to the hospital, with injuries ranging from minor, to one person with possible serious injuries.

All five vehicles had to be towed from the crash scene.

Jim; How can you wish someone dead. I hope and pray that you were only speaking out in anger and not sincere. The mother needs to be punished and the children's welfare carefully monitored. Hope all involved are okay.

Everybody is worried about the "thousands of new idiot college students" coming to Greenville each year. Well I'm sorry sir that you think us college students are idiots, but at least we are trying to get an education, while you're sitting here on your computer ranting and raving. It's funny, here I am going for nursing, and this idiotic man is criticizing and being an embarassment to all college students. Let me see your Bachelor's degree first befor you start calling me an idiot for trying to better myself.

the new walmart will not mess up traffic any worse than the idiot college kids that are popping up by the thousand all over town...too bad the woman driving impaired was not removed from the earth today to do us all a favor, whoever the native is and company associated is foolish, thank you, that is all

I wonder what is going on with the traffic signal system. Greenville was suppose to put a system in to monitor the traffic flow an be able to change the lights remotely. I thought the cameras that where put up several years ago were part of the system, maybe they just don't know how to operate it... Still no reason for someone to be driving drunk.

To Native, the street, the business on a street, the type of car she was driving or anything else takes the place of being responsible. I guess being drunk at 11:00 am had nothing to do with it.
