Greenville police have charged a 39-year-old woman with DWI after a wreck this morning that involved five vehicles. That wreck closed down a major intersection in the city.
The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. at Greenville Boulevard and 10th Street. The busy intersection was shut down for almost an hour as rescue crews cleaned up the 5 vehicle crash.
One of the vehicles in the crash was a Greenville Fire Department pickup truck.
Charged with DWI, failure to reduce speed and driving while license revoked was 39-year-old Angela Shoe of May Circle. The police report says there were two children in the woman's car, ages 5 & 9 years old.
According to the Department of Corrections website, a 39-year-old Angela Shoe is a parole/probation absconder. The Shoe listed on the DOC website was convicted in 2008 in Lenoir County for driving without a license and in 2006 in Greene County on a shoplifting-related charge.
The fire department says eight people were taken to the hospital, with injuries ranging from minor, to one person with possible serious injuries.
All five vehicles had to be towed from the crash scene.
