Man Dies After Head-On Collision

A Farmville man was not able to survive a head-on collision.

40 year-old Anthony Jerome Cox Jr. of Farmville died at the hospital after the crash on Highway 17, south of Vanceboro in Craven County Tuesday afternoon.

Troopers say 20 year-old Hailey Howell of Vanceboro crossed into Cox's lane, and they collided head-on. A five year-old in Howell's van is in critical condition at the hospital. Investigators say the child wasn't properly secured.

why dose everyone keep on about this no one know who is to blame all we know is a baby is at pitt and a man lost his life no one knows what happend or whos falt it was so people need to stop and think before that talk yes a man lost his life and Hailey is sorry for that and so is the howell family But it could have been any of us. Anyone can have a collision and someone in your car or the other car can pass away... Do you want people talking about you like this??? I would say not... Hailey will have to live with this for the rest of her life knowing that she took a mans life and hurt the baby so yall need to stop and think.... IT COULD BE YOU ONE DAY....... I don't know why everyone keeps talking about her texting. I know for a fact that she wasn't because I had been talking to her while she was waiting at the school for her little girl and she told me that Maaliyah was in the car so she would get up with me later. As far as the child not being restrained properly the man that got Maaliyah out of the car told Hailey's mom that she was in a car seat. Everyone up here should know that you can't beleive everything you hear because there is so many stories going around that theres no way to know what happened unless you were there my prayers are with both families and I know that Hailey is truly sorry to the Cox family and she knows her apology isn't going to fill the gap or make everything better but her heart is full of sorrow for the family of the innocent man that was involved in her freak accident. I am also sorry to your family I know what its like to lose a loved one my prayers and thoughts are with you guys.

ANTI-TERRORIST- WHAT NEGATIVE COMMENT DID I MAKE? And don't use his tragic event to go off on some crazy spee ch about our government, I know first hand what it feels like to be a victim of a car crash were the children were not restrained, I watched my best friend bury her 4 year old son because his father didn't buckle him in a child safety seat, and my own son was seriously injured in that car accident, so maybe you need to rethink your comment to me you have issues with the current laws and this is not a forum for you to be hateful!! I apoligize to both familys for anything I have said to hurt you in your time of sorrow. God Bless u all

HAILEY IS FINE, SO MY PRAYERS ARE WITH THE COX FAMILY AND THE JONES FAMILY WHO WILL HAVE SOME VERY DIFFICULT DAYS AHEAD. TONY WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. HIS LIFE IS OVER DUE TO CARELESS DRIVING. THERE IS NO NEED TO DEBATE ABOUT RESTRAINT LAWS OR HAILEY'S CHARACTER. WE SHOULD BE PRAYING FOR THE FAMILIES INVOLVED. HAILEY WILL HAVE ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
