Highway 13 is now open in Pitt County, after a serious crash there late Monday afternoon.

Troopers say they believe the man started to veer too far to the right, over corrected and then veered too far to the left, hitting the Honda Civic head-on.

Troopers say the driver of the Honda tried to avoid the crash but could not.

The female passenger in the Honda was seriously injured and taken to the hospital by East care helicopter. She had to be cut out of the vehicle.

The other woman and the boy in the Civic were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Troopers say the man in the truck was not seriously injured.
