The Pitt County Health Department will begin offering the H1N1 FluMist Vaccine Thursday. The vaccine is in the form of a nasal spray.
It will be offered by appointment only to healthy children two to four years of age and to healthy adults who are less than fifty years old and serve as primary caregivers for children less than two years old.
The Health Department has received about 700 doses of the FluMist Vaccine. More vaccines are expected in the next few weeks, including shots. A shortage of vaccine is not anticipated. Children ages six months and older can receive flu shots, as well as people with chronic health conditions.
