NEW INFO: Attempted Armed Robbery Suspect Facing More Charges

Greenville police say one man is responsible for a rash of armed robberies that have plagued southeast Greenville over the past month.

Andrew Gray has already been charged with the attempted armed robbery at an apartment complex on Thackery Road. Now police say Gray is a suspect in several other similar robberies.

Now Gray is charged with a total of seven attempted, or actual armed robberies. Those include robberies at Quail Ridge Apartments, The Pointe at Wimbledon Drive Apartments, Turnbury Drive, Tucker Drive, and on Hyde Drive.

Greenville police say the 28 year-old Gray held up a person at the apartment complex on Thackery Road off Charles Boulevard, just after ten Monday night. Police say Gray didn't get away with any cash, but the victim got a good look at him and helped police in the investigation. Gray was arrested on nearby after a two hour standoff on Mulberry Lane, which is where he lives.

Gray was charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault by pointing a gun. Gray's bond was set at $400,000. He is currently in the Pitt County Detention Center.

Hey dumba** that posted he had a glock-what crime are you responding to? He only had 1 gun, a BB gun. If I had been a victim, yes, I would've been scared to death. My heart goes out to all involved-the victims their loved ones, the offender's family/loved ones, and , yes, Im going to say it, the offender himself. So many of you are so quick to show your IGNORANCE by your responses it amazes me!!! What's becoming of the human race? Are we that shallow and cold hearted that we're capable of being so cruel? Does it really make you feel better about yourselves to post such nastiness? Its obvious this guy had some problems. Think about it... nobody in their right mind would do drugs and rob people. Not everyone is able to handle life with its many trials and tribulations. Those are the ones that need our help the most so that crimes like this could hopefully be avoided. My prayers go out to all involved and I hope the victims can find it in their hearts to forgive him.

If you guys only knew this guy's record and habits. I personally have been dealing with him since 1998. Yeah he is a nice guy but he is a theif, thug and a drug addict. Get real people crimes are commited by people of all races, religion and sex. May he go to prison so he can dry out for a little while. When he gets out he will still be a thug.

Have you seen BB pistols recently, they are exact duplicates of the real thing, therefor they are considered the real thing as far as the police and victim is concerned.. Quit making excuses for this person. This was his life choice.

Time and time again I read comments posted on this site and when a crime is committed by a person of another race its so wrong and they get what they deserve. Many comments say he had a problem and needed help but at the same time he kept chosing the wrong path. You have to want to help yourself people can't do that for you. So for those of who post your racist and stupid comments where is that anger now I guess it's ok since it's one of your own. if he desrves another chance shouldn't others.

BETTY, YOUR WRONG. WHEN HIS MOTHER WAS HERE SHE WAS SO VERY PROUD OF HIM. SHE HAD TO LEAVE HIM WHEN HE WAS STILL JUST A BABY STARTING SCHOOL. SHE WAS WONDERFUL AND NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY SHE PLANTED SOME GOOD SEEDS IN HIM. I HOPE TO LIVE TO SEE HER DREAMS FULFILLED IN HIM, LORD WILLING.

He may have scared people with his BB gun, he did not physically harm anyone. Prayers go out to his victims, his family, and his loved ones. All of you think you know so much, just because your car was broken into doesn't mean Andy should be blamed for every crime that has taken place in the last month. For the record he is a really nice guy...unfortunately he has a problem, he has tried to get help many times, i hope one day he will get the help he so desperately wants and needs. Those of you with no compassion, I hope you never need it yourself.
