NEW INFO: Attempted Armed Robbery Suspect Facing More Charges

Greenville police say one man is responsible for a rash of armed robberies that have plagued southeast Greenville over the past month.

Andrew Gray has already been charged with the attempted armed robbery at an apartment complex on Thackery Road. Now police say Gray is a suspect in several other similar robberies.

Now Gray is charged with a total of seven attempted, or actual armed robberies. Those include robberies at Quail Ridge Apartments, The Pointe at Wimbledon Drive Apartments, Turnbury Drive, Tucker Drive, and on Hyde Drive.

Greenville police say the 28 year-old Gray held up a person at the apartment complex on Thackery Road off Charles Boulevard, just after ten Monday night. Police say Gray didn't get away with any cash, but the victim got a good look at him and helped police in the investigation. Gray was arrested on nearby after a two hour standoff on Mulberry Lane, which is where he lives.

Gray was charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault by pointing a gun. Gray's bond was set at $400,000. He is currently in the Pitt County Detention Center.
