A robbery victim in Greenville is talking about his decision to reach up and grab the gun from the suspect pointing it in his face.
It was at Willoughby Park apartments where Greenville police say 20 year-old David Dahabiyeh sat inside his vehicle outside a friend's apartment when the gunman approached him and demanded money. "I reached in my pocket, I think I had a ten dollar bill and a one dollar bill, as soon as he grabbed the money, I reached up for the gun, hold it up in the air. We kind of tussle a little bit. I snatched it from him and that's when he takes off.
Dahabiyeh says he was scared about the ordeal and knows it wasn't the smartest thing to do, but says he worked hard for his money and wasn't going to give it up.
While Dahabiyeh wasn't injured, police generally do not advise taking on an armed robber. They say it is usually best to comply and get away with your life, instead of jeopardizing it.
