Armed Robbery At Greenville Gas Station

The clerk of a gas station getting ready to open up for the day was robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday.

Chief James Tripp with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office says the robbery happened at the Trade Mart at the corner of Allen Rd. and Dickinson Ave. in Greenville.

Tripp says the woman was on her way into the gas station to open it up for the day at 4:50 a.m. when the gunman ran up to her. He was wearing a Halloween mask and had a silver handgun.

Chief Tripp says the suspect did not talk during the robbery as he ordered her to open the cash register and giving him all the money.

They hope surveillance video at the scene may offer more clues in the case.

The gunman fled the scene with cash from the store on foot, Tripp said. The clerk was not hurt.
