South Central Advanced to 2-0 with a 28-21 win over Farmville Central. The Falcons got the scoring going with a 12-yard Monty Hood run in the first quarter. Farmville quickly evened it up on a 3-yard TJ Cox run but South Central answered on the ensuing kick-off as Jaquelle Cherry took it into the endzone with a 71-yard kick-off return which kept the Falcons in the lead through halftime.
Cox got the second half scoring going for the Jags with his second touchdown of the game to even the score at 14-14. South Central took a lead that they would not relinquish when Ethan Cochran tossed a 24-yard touchdown pass to Monty Hood early in the fourth quarter. Less than a minute later David Lucas picked off a Marquell Bailey pass and returned it for a 20-yard touchdown to put the Falcons up by 14.
On their next possession, Bailey aired out a 67-yard pass to Patrick Baker to bring the Jaguars within seven. The score stood at 28-21 when the clock expired.
Jason Robinson ran the ball well for the Falcons, tallying 102 yards on the ground.
Farmville (1-1) travels to Northeastern next week while South Central battles JH Rose in Greenville.
