Rail Connector To Help With Greenville Traffic Congestion

Improving safety and traffic flow by reducing long waits for vehicles held up by trains is the goal behind a new connector railroad track in Greenville.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation says construction on the connector near the intersection of Fourteenth and Beatty streets will begin in September.

The connector will eliminate difficult train movements between Arlington Boulevard and Howell street and provide a direct north-to-east connection for rail traffic in downtown Greenville.

Comes from poor planning. Should have found a solution years ago.

It'd be great if Greenville stop thinking about cars only and get into thinking about making things safer for people walking and biking. Adding bridges here would be great for people to safely cross over the tracks

I'm with Katie & Claudia, who is responsible for fixing the road in those places? It is TERRIBLE on my car!! It was better on Dickenson before they worked on the road there. They fixed one side of the road but not the other! Is this the DOT or the railroad? G'ville Blvd by Wal-Mart is just uncalled for and has been so for a long time. I would love to know who is responsible for fixing this if anyone knows. Thanks!

So now we have to build a connector? Why not just do like other cities and not let train traffice through town during rush hour. Oh, but that would save money. So that's out.
